Rachel Irvine Schmidt
Rachel Irvine Schmidt, has been working on the peninsula as a teacher and as a private tutor since 1996. She holds a double major BA degree in both Liberal Studies and in Spanish. Additionally, she has three different credentials in Bilingual Elementary Education (BCLAD), Spanish, and an administrative credential. She has also earned her Masters Degree in Educational Administration and Supervision. She works with students as well as with her tutors to ensure successful experiences for all. The team is caring, patient and proud of its work. Bright Horizons is compliant with the California Teaching Standards and Framework.

Clint

Amy Horvat
Amy graduated from Marietta College, a small liberal-arts college in Ohio, with degrees in English and Mathematics. Her tutoring career began in the Writing Center at Marietta College, where she loved helping students of all nationalities make sense of the often confusing English language. After graduation, Amy worked as tutor in several states. New to the Monterey Bay area, she is excited to bring her extensive experience tutoring mathematics, reading, writing, test preparation and introductory chemistry courses to Bright Horizons. In her spare time, Amy likes to read, hike and work on an endless pile of craft projects.


Clint

Clinton Gerhard
Clint has been tutoring for Bright Horizons for three years now and has a very loyal following of students. He has earned two Associate Degrees from Monterey Peninsula College (MPC) for Mathematics and Physics. He is currently applying to California State University, Monterey Bay for math teaching credentials. Clint has a unique way of connecting to students. He gets to know each student's personality, learning behavior, then builds the student's trust and self-confidence. He also teaches students that being responsible for their own work has larger rewards than taking short cuts. Clint was in the Air Force for 5 years where he learned how to interact with many different personalities, different environmental backgrounds and to take pride in his work. He enjoys reading, hiking, math, camping, and playing video games.


Jessica

Jessica Bennett
Jessica grew up in Dothan, Alabama and attended the Alabama School of Math and Science for high school. She then went on to the University of North Alabama for her first two years of college. New to the Monterey area, she is currently at Monterey Peninsula College taking her general education requirements in order to transfer as a Chemical Engineering major. Jessica has tutored all throughout high school and college and truly enjoys helping students learn. Watching students make sense of difficult material is very gratifying for Jessica. She loves teaching math and science here at Bright Horizons, as well as test preparation (ACT, SAT, and pSAT). Jessica also tutors English and writing for students in the younger grades. Jessica's hobbies include reading, writing, and drawing in her spare time.
